… expect a new category of university stories: Physicians at teaching hospitals arrested for various “pill mill” schemes.
Pill mills have so far mainly operated out of storefronts, and have been run by doctors without a university affiliation. But as states begin to crack down on these easily-identified businesses, expect more stories like this one, from Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The “Jersey Shore” train wreck is worth watching one episode, UD. Jersey Shore University Hospital is actually affiliated with UMDNJ. Having provided the straight line, I’ll let greater wags than me finish that thought.

The big question is whether this was just a “bad apple,” or was he somehow enabled by the hospital/ medical center?
There are unfortunately some, maybe too many bad apple doctors, but if this reflects a bad apple organization, the implications are worse.
