Without Division I athletics, Northern Iowa’s not on the cover of the Sports Illustrated. Without Division I athletics, the Panthers aren’t whisked to Los Angeles and handed an ESPY award.

I especially enjoyed the article’s line “Northern Iowa recently estimated the value of the SI cover as equal to $328,100 in advertising.”
That’s intriguing, because I recently estimated my IQ at 250 and my attractiveness on a scale of 1 to 10 at 11.
Incidentally, searching Northern Iowa’s website for the number 328,100 returns no results.

Does the $328K turn up in the athletic department’s fundraising report, I wonder?
