I’m reminded of this great quote from The Big Lebowski: “Nihilists! Fuck me. I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it’s an ethos.”
I certainly agree the choice is an awful one, but to say that UNESCO embarrasses itself in making it presupposes a great deal. UNESCO joins the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women in being unwilling to view that nation’s leaders as anything other than the regime of barbarians that they are.
