There is a priceless gem of either illiteracy or cluelessness at the web page carrying the history of the Belk Bowl: “The bowl effort got off to an auspicious start as Haines was scheduled to make the formal Charlotte presentation at the committee at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Philadelphia on the morning of September 11, 2001.” Yes, they say auspicious. For the rest of the paragraph see http://belkbowl.com/the_game/history_of_the_bowl/.

At a recent Castaways basketball game here in Mediocrevilleburgton, 25% of the arena was closed off behind a curtain, and other large areas covered with tarps. Ushers pleaded with people to move down from the peanut gallery to fill the deserted lower level. Word is that many adminidroids and even the VPs are giving the games a miss unless sure that the president will be there.
