“It was an educated decision on my part knowing that I could be a vegetable but my family would be taken care of.”

Yes, becoming a vegetable is a reasonable price to pay for your family’s well-being; I’m sure we all agree with that.

Since our professional and university football players take the field knowing they could be concussed into oblivion, it seems perfectly reasonable to send them out there. I’m sure all the juries will agree.

I’m sorry, but if the retired football player who made the comment about becoming a vegetable in order to provide for his family thinks that’s heroic, then he’s an idiot. The brain deterioration of football players is occurring at much younger ages. Years can go by prior to death, the care for brain trauma is massively expensive. Without a well functioning mind and brain, then what can anyone do but be a burden to their family? Far better and more heroic would have been to challenge the notion of sacrifice for a game, to demand accountability from coaches, universities and team owners for their callous use of football fodder, and recognize just how stupid it is to lose your mind for nothing more than a passing distraction….
