This seems really boneheaded. How do people who supposedly understand guns not see the risk here?

Gun enthusiasts are appalled by the Arizona Uzi incident.
FWIW-recoil, firearm control, cartridge energy, firearm familiarization, gun safety, etc. are all frequent topics of discussion among very experienced gun enthusiasts, law enforcement people, ex-military, and so on. One gun enthusiast I know with vast firearms experience describes a particular automatic pistol as a “beast” for its difficult-to-control recoil. That’s the talk among small arms experts.
What a youngster that age was doing with a full-auto Uzi is beyond me.

Here’s a review (now taken down) on Trip Advisor for Bullets and Burgers, the company that includes a fun visit to the shooting range in question with some burgers. Perfect combination. It’s apparently the #1 attraction in Las Vegas, which says a lot about Las Vegas.
“Great place for kids”
[five stars out of five!]
This is a great place for young children to learn to fire Uzis. With this kind of training, kids will never have to worry about bullying in school.
