“Most Clinton conspiracy theories are meant to delegitimize her, to explain away her baffling, irksome persistence in public life as a product of a scarcely comprehensible homicidal ruthlessness.”

Scathing Online Schoolmarm says: Nicely put.

  1. Greg Says:

I think the Republicans have done a great job brainwashing large segments of voters about this woman who is a tough pol, a real human being so not perfect, stunningly smart, uniquely experienced to be President, heart largely in the right place, but awkward and somewhat shrill as a speaker — contrast perfect pitch E. Warren.

And I do like the quotation.

But tell me, SOSM, I always thought that “legitimate” (vb) was better for general purposes, and “legitimize” largely connected with the archaic practice of condemning innocent children for their parents imagined sins. I’m just curious about your ear as to best usage. Websters seems to say no difference.

    SOS vastly prefers “legitimate.”
