GRADE'S CONSTANCY
For years thou hast giv'n me none but A's; Next quarter when thou changest, what wilt thou say? Wilt thou then antedate some new-made B? Or say that we Are not just those persons which we were? Or that those A's made in reverential fear Of parents and their wrath, any may forswear? Or, as true grades false grades untie, So our loving bonds had also been a lie? Or, your own end to justify, For having purpos'd change and falsehood, you Can have no way but falsehood to be true? Vain lunatic, against these 'scapes I could Dispute and conquer, if I would, Which I abstain to do. It's my parents I'll let sue. |
