UD is...
"Salty." (Scott McLemee)
"Unvarnished." (Phi Beta Cons)
"Splendidly splenetic." (Culture Industry)
"Except for University Diaries, most academic blogs are tedious."
(Rate Your Students)
"I think of Soltan as the Maureen Dowd of the blogosphere,
except that Maureen Dowd is kind of a wrecking ball of a writer,
and Soltan isn't. For the life of me, I can't figure out her
politics, but she's pretty fabulous, so who gives a damn?"

From Prose to Poetry: UD Makes A Poem
Out of Phrases Taken From
An Article in Today's New York Times

MOONLET NIGHT

A tripod in space
Makes a circuit of Saturn,
Its rings of water ice,
Its disks of interstellar matter.

Beyond the planet's cloud top,
Repeated passages of unseen moons,
And shepherd moonlets, and hints of smaller moonlets,
In rings of ice and rock.

Signature of ring chemistry:
Particle winds of interplanetary space.
