TMLI Too Much Literary Information. Watched one of the famous P'town beach sunsets and thought of the gathering of the cars for the postmodern sunsets at the end of DeLillo's White Noise. Walked by Norman Mailer's big brick house on the water and remembered sitting alone in a little tent in the Pyrennees when I was sixteen years old, reading The Naked and the Dead. Saw what was left of the waterfront theater Eugene O'Neill had something to do with and thought of the first time I read Long Day's Journey into Night -- in the back of my parents' VW van, on our way to Expo 67 in Montreal.... |
