UD is...
"Salty." (Scott McLemee)
"Unvarnished." (Phi Beta Cons)
"Splendidly splenetic." (Culture Industry)
"Except for University Diaries, most academic blogs are tedious."
(Rate Your Students)
"I think of Soltan as the Maureen Dowd of the blogosphere,
except that Maureen Dowd is kind of a wrecking ball of a writer,
and Soltan isn't. For the life of me, I can't figure out her
politics, but she's pretty fabulous, so who gives a damn?"

The Flat Fields of Delaware...

...make for a very big sky,
and it was raining off and on
as we approached Rehoboth.
So we got these gray and blue
and white mixes, with black
curtains off at the storm centers.

Insect-like irrigators (I'm
sure there's a word for them.
They look like this.)

lay idle along the fields.

Rain's just over. Sun's out.
UD now scans the big sky
over the ocean for rainbows.
Ever hopeful.
