“A stunning lack of human decency.”

“The deeply conservative Arizona Republic endorsed the Democratic nominee for president for the first time in its 126-year history on Tuesday,” [describing Donald Trump as a man] “with a stunning lack of human decency.”

Nicely tripping iambic pentameter in that phrase: A stunning lack of human decency. Pretty.

Perhaps this will be, for some, a moment of illumination:

But SOFT! what LIGHT through YONder WINdow BREAKS?

It seems that there are almost infinite damning things one could say against Trump. If forced to choose the most basic one, I would say: on a rich evidentiary record, there is not a scrap suggesting that he ever loved another human being. Everything powerfully suggests the contrary. This to me is the most disqualifying thing, among so many, about him. Much, though not all, of the rest of the reasons follow from this.
