Leaving aside all the other ways in which this edict is ridiculous (and, in its blaming-the-victim approach, disgusting), has this cleric noticed that you can’t necessarily tell baby girls from baby boys with their diapers on? If it were easier, there wouldn’t be so many bows, frilly hats, etc., etc. designed to stay on fuzzy (or bald) little heads, or so many pink and purple clothes (of course, the existence of said accessories suggests that the U.S. isn’t exactly gender-blind either. I suppose I’d like to be warned that I’m changing a little boy before I remove his diaper, lest I be sprayed, but beyond that, who cares what gender a baby is? The needs of very little boys and girls are, to the best of my knowledge, 99% identical).

Hey! We could implement this in the USA, and all child abuse would end. I’d hate to see that, though, since my wife is a child protective services manager. . . .
