“But the fire the president is stoking through his willful flaunting of the law can’t be denied.”

Flaunting? The writer flouts all standards of good writing by flaunting his ignorance.

And doesn’t the Washington Post have editors?

  1. Bernard Carroll Says:

This reminds me of a commentary about editors of scientific journals… it appeared in the journal Nature. It ran to the effect that editors once were judges and guardians of the corpus of science but that nowadays the prevailing model is Editor-as-Postman – managing the flow of manuscripts from authors to reviewers to publishers but often without paying attention to the content or the tone of what is published. Tradecraft in scientific editing has suffered, and that is one way that compromised publications slip through… editing is about a lot more than catching malapropisms and solecisms.

    Barney: Absolutely.

  3. Bill Harshaw Says:

  4. Margaret Soltan Says:

Bill: Yes, because it never reigns but it pours.
