Northern Illinois University: Remembrance of Glocks Past

It’s deja vu all over again for NIU as police arrest a freshman storing in his dorm room the same make of weapon another student used five years ago to kill several students during a geology class.

Ah, the Glock, the Glock, gun of choice for campus paranoids…

Not that this guy only kept a Glock. Try body armor and an AR-15 rifle. A freshman can’t be too careful these days.

  1. Stephen Karlson Says:

The lecturer was injured but recovered. Five students in the auditorium died, the gunman shot himself as police arrived.

What ought Student Affairs or residence hall security or the faculty have done differently in the more recent case?

  2. UD Says:

Stephen: Thanks for the correction – I’ll change the post.

As to your question: Absolutely nothing. No one can go around searching everyone’s room; no one can do profiles on – say – older vets among the undergrads. But that mail clerk who noted gun parts among his mail should get a special award/commendation.
