    Girl From North Country moves me most among Dylan’s works. Perhaps it’s where, and with whom, I was when I first heard it. Or maybe it’s the simple direct way it deals with longing and, beyond that, caring about someone.

    Greg: When I first started listening to Dylan, I was in an old English ballads phase, singing through tons of them with my nylon string guitar while I sat on a clothes hamper in the bathroom (better acoustics). This song was completely continuous with all that – clearly part of that same ballad tradition …
