I’m glad to learn about Mr. UD’s grandfather. His Polish Wikipedia page says that during World War II he was a leader of the “conspiratorial council” of Polish Scouting, which means that before his death in 1943 he helped coordinate the scouting underground in which my uncle Juliusz Bogdan Deczkowski (pseudonym “Laudanski”) participated.
