Isn’t this article arguing that the university should place more emphasis on revenue sports, and hire coaches who can win without worrying about past scandals? It’s not clear, and I question the applicability of close reading to pieces that are not closely written, but that’s the best I can do with it.

Although the link goes to the Sac Bee, the original article was in the Minnneapolis paper and it is by Jim Souhan who is a sports writer. Mr. Punch’s summary is spot on.
