“The recruiter is less like a college admissions rep (‘Why should I let you in?’) and more like a used car salesman (‘How can I get you to walk out of here today with a shiny new student loan?’).”
Umm. Thank God that all of our admissions people see themselves as gatekeepers defending our citadel of scholarship from the under-qualified. They of course never make promises about wonderful careers awaiting prospects, and our financial aid office never pushes families to the edge with loans. It is also a vile lie that the average student non-athlete is effectively paying $1500 per year to support D-I athletics. (It’s more like $2000 per year.)
Something about people living in glass houses comes to mind.
