The journey of Heim and Gansser across Tibet produced still-useful information for geologists interested in the Himalaya and Tibetan plateau.
Gansser contributed to a very good book on the geology, and culture of the Himalaya. Very readable for non-geolgists.
I recommend it:

I couldn’t help but think of the Dos Equis man (to whom he even bears a passing resemblance). Fantastic.
Augusto Gansser scaled the peaks. He dug for oil, advised the sheikhs. He made the mould, he won the gold, His feats are still retold in bold – A story worthy of the Greeks.
