I guess it never occurred to the U’s brighter lights that the AD should never have been involved with Shapiro, at any level. Shalala was a Clinton cabinet member, with that kind of juice, she can land fat pay for little work at universities. But those unis aren’t doing it because they feel sorry for the munchkin, they’re doing it for the access to power she maintains. So why didn’t Donna baby pick up the cell, call anyone at the DOJ, and ask them what they knew about Shapiro? Probably because she didn’t want to hear that the diminutive money funnel that was Shapiro was a freaking crook, just like his daddy. Which brings to mind why the linked article didn’t bother to mention Shapiro being the progeny of a master Ponzi artist? The bright red line of corruption and theft would have been far too difficult to ignore, so don’t ask, don’t tell.
If Miami administrators had been, in any way, interested in doing their jobs, they would have known, within minutes, that Shapiro, et al, were a criminal syndicate, that needed access to athletes, most likely to further gambling functions.
