beauty, on CSPAN the other day caught Sen McCain making the case for protection/service for over the air tv consumers who he felt shouldn’t be unjustly deprived of local sports programming, panem et circenses baby!

Went to the link. LOL. Made me think of the lines attributed to a Spanish or Italian immigrant a century ago: “Don’t come to America. The streets are not paved with gold. The streets are not paved at all. I’m the guy who’s paving the streets!”
Despite America’s good points–and those good points are genuine–there are, er, uh, issues, here.
dmf, you are spot on with the “panem et circenses”. My local Congressman lives maybe a ten minute walk from me, and it’s quite clear he hasn’t a clue, nor does he care.
