One Response to “Sad, and rather grotesque story…”

  1. Contingent Cassandra Says:

One bright spot: at least the person with him acted like a decent, (semi-) responsible human being, and not only called 911, but also stuck around to give an account of what had happened. It probably helped that he could plausibly claim that the heroin was Warren’s.

Otherwise, yes, sad and grotesque — and even more sad and grotesque that so many of the stories you post here could be appropriately labeled the same way. Admittedly universities are human institutions, and so can be expected to be messy at times, but they seem extraordinarily messy these days, in ways which are not, as far as I can tell, very closely related to the tensions inherent in their varied missions.
