‘When asked if he has spoken to the team about guns, McElwain said: “We talk about that kind of choices and decisions is something that we talk about constantly. It’s like every day we meet. OK, there’s a man down. It was his choice. Choose what you want to do, right? Life’s full of choices.’

I think the problem here is that the University of Florida coach wasn’t precise enough. He needed to speak to his team about not shooting guns at your pregnant girlfriend.

    The young man had a choice, play football or shoot at his girlfriend. He apparently made the wrong choice.

    I would suspect that as a DI football player he had ever been made to think that he had to make a choice between the two options. Why go either/or when all your life you’ve been led to believe that you can have both-and?
