I’m curious. do the Greek universities offer an education or a “college experience”. I could forgive a certain amount of foolishness if the former. Harder to forgive the foolishness of American “big time” sports universities.

Practically no European universities offer the American “college experience” of athletics, fraternities/sororities, elaborate fitness centers, or safe spaces. There is plenty of the stupidity and recklessness that goes along with being a college student, but it is much less monitored and controlled by the institutions.

A group of our trustees once took a tour of some universities in Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic and were stunned by the lack of institutional sports teams. How can it be a university without a basketball team, cheerleaders, a weird mascot, etc.?

No college experience without a Lazy River and sushi availability….
