Maybe UD should create an occasional "open thread" as they’re called on some blogs — a post that just invites comments on everything and anything. The Althouse blog calls them cafes, with a photo as a starting point. In a library I worked in during grad school, we had a big blackboard that we used to host symposia: someone would write a quotation, and then for the rest of the week people would play off it somehow with other quotations or doodlings. The symposium was never named; it just emerged. (Did this post start a phoebe symposium, or a top ten symposium, or a tuxedo symposium, or a student journalism symposium? That will depend on how people follow up.)
