… that until UD embraces an actual religion, her bible is White Noise, by Don DeLillo.
The artist who created the covers for the (not-yet released) twenty-fifth anniversary edition of the novel describes, in detail, on his blog, how he did it.
Here’s the front cover.
Great stuff.

I think that it’s very cool that Penguin has been getting comic book artists to draw some of their covers lately. I’m a fan of French-Canadian comic artist Julie Doucet, who drew the cover for Little Women: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/reader/0143105019/

What a hilarious cover, Carolyn! And with an introduction by Jane Smiley, author of the also hilarious Moo.

I sense a series emerging here.
Hard to believe WN is 25 years old, to be honest. When my high-school kids read it they love it like it just came out. That says something, i think. That a novel now 25 years old still seems fresh and exciting and daring (the only reasons my students read anything today–it has to be on the fringe or (ugh) "edgy."
On the other hand: maybe i should find it scary that my students think 25 years is "old" for a novel.

UD, This was the first, and in my opinion probably the best, of the many Delillo books that I was persuaded to read based on your enthusiasm for him and his writing. A truly great book, with much to say about our chosen profession. Very cool cover on the new edition too…
