… is having trouble swallowing.

… I’m a big Tom Izzo fan, but the news that he has just received a $500,000 raise and use of the [university’s] private jet in severely economically depressed Michigan is a bit hard to swallow.

To put that in perspective, the university president makes roughly $570,000 per year and has use of a state car.

Izzo makes 3.5 million, plus winning incentives.

The difference is that the university president is a state employee and Izzo is a contractor to the athletic foundation who is responsible for his compensation package.

I doubt if the athletic department gets one dollar of tax money.

Hey superdestroyer: I thought Izzo was a leader of student-athletes, an integral part of the intellectual as well as athletic culture of his university.

Only in the press releases from the Sports Information Director.
