I’m not a health care scholar — I do almost exclusively public health — but I know enough to say that both the reasoning and the lineup are entirely unexpected by almost any expert. The tax argument that won was roundly rejected by most of the lower courts, and few thought the Medicaid expansion provision would be in any real danger.
Glad it passed, but still ridiculous that as a polity we’re still not sure we should provide people with even basic social services (of which health care is only one).
