“And who are you to say we loved our football team too much? This is America. Are you going to go down to Tuscaloosa on a Saturday this fall and tell Tide fans to simmer down if they’re getting too excited at a tailgate? Who died and made you king of dictating what people were allowed to like and to what extent?”

This is America.

“So now you have a bunch of people whose biggest sin was liking football too much for your taste, and they’re all super pissed off because you essentially are trying to totally destroy the one thing they all commonly love: football.”

This is rich indeed. Their biggest sin was liking football too much? Hmm. Is that a greater sin than covering up child rapes?

And they are now super pissed off? Well, that certainly changes things. I say, “Repeal all the sanctions!” We certainly wouldn’t want a student to be super pissed off. I might have gone along with it if they were just pissed off — but super pissed off? That really is too much to bear.

I might have thought that the one thing they all love there at State Penn is truth. Or maybe beauty? Or maybe learning? Apparently there’s no chance that it’s “know thyself.”
