Assuming the best outcome: will this man stop dominating conversations and thoughts after the election? I’m trying to remember normal, when one didn’t constantly check 538 like an invalid his pulse.

Greg: I do indeed constantly check 538. Except for when I don’t. I don’t when I feel as though things are really going the wrong way, and I’m not sure I’m tough enough to look at them with that degree of explicitness.
I think all sorts of intriguing Trump-pathologies are developing among those of us who detest him and his surrogates (Giuliani, Christie), and who dread their continued significance in our national life.

Imagining Giuliani’s inner dialogue over the years could be a fascinating part of a novel. Not that I think that he was ever really smart or thoughtful, but my guess is he once had something of a soul.
