University Diaries. Hosted by Margaret Soltan, professor of English at George Washington University. Boy is she pissed — mostly about athletics and funding, the usual scandals — but also about distance learning and diploma mills. She likes poems too. And she sings.

I wonder if his aides will be energetic in arranging a crowd and getting his plane off on schedule so that it is still Air Force One while he heads for his Hearst Mansion. Just sayin. Doubt he has a Peggy Noonan to make an unwarranted and embarrassing fuss. There are some pissed and disheartened people in those buildings who deserve exactly that and more anguish. But that sort of thing is transmissible up the line. I’m imagining the class bully waiting – forever – for his mates to show up at his cake and fireworks party. One room, total contents: one cosmically inadequate man filled with hate and shit, one balloon. The image keeps popping into my head along with that of the massive crowd at his first Inauguration. It was huuuuge!
