Apparently the Pentagon, in an Unprecedented Move, has Refused to Give Trump a Military Send-off.

A reader sends this to UD, from Defense One:

The Pentagon, in a break with recent tradition, will not host an Armed Forces Farewell tribute to President Donald Trump.

It’s a shame, but not a surprise. Trump will leave office in disgrace, one week after the House voted a second time for his impeachment, two weeks after his supporters staged a deadly siege in the Capitol Building, six months after he dragged his Joint Chiefs chairman into a political firestorm, and after four years of nonstop assaults on truth.

The military doesn’t … want Mr Fuckface.

Mr Fuckface, you see, is like the gannet – one doesn’t want it, because it wets its nest.

he’s said to be arranging his own with 21 gun salute and pre-inauguration departure. if the plane has mechanical problems until after noon, it won’t be designated air force 1

factcheck: Ah yes. I’m currently working on a post that will attempt to describe the event Trump is planning for himself.

  3. Gordon Young Says:

And, factcheck, do you think that there might be one or more people in the entire group of those responsible for the flight, who feel little incentive to bust their asses to ensure a timely departure? Just had that kinesthetic feeling that often accompanies my production of a rhetorical question. Poor man, virtually all alone on the tarmak with fantasies of being Napoleon, but taller.

  4. factcheck Says:

good question, i don’t know. i suppose his remaining staff would ensure enough time and a backup aircraft just in case. that would leave air traffic control. any chance of bad weather at the destination this time of year?

also only just noticed the earlier (1/15 2:15pm) post about the self-sendoff.

  5. Gordon Young Says:

To paraphrase Credence – and they wrote and played the soundtrack for the Vietnam War – “we’ve been in for, and in, nasty weather for sometime. Best wishes.
