Oneupsmanship in the ever growing academic field of hubris is truly amazing. At our place the administration’s modest goal is to become one of the top three public research universities in the world [sic]. Is on earth the same thing?

Yeah – that was the only thing I found noteworthy about the headline, Bonzo — on Earth. The original headline capitalizes Earth. Makes it seem as though the real competition is among the planets…
The locals in and around Mediocrevilleburghton do not use rankings, but the term "world-class." We had a world-class teleconferencing facility once. It never actually worked for more than 6-7 minutes at a shot, though. Our admins. are pikers compared to Tierfour State. By my count, they have called at least eight buildings or facilities world-class in the last five years.
