In 2020 at age 92 he updated The Elements with another stanza with sixteen more that had been discovered – and it flows beautifully. What a legend. RIP.

His intellectual/creative longevity makes me think of GB Shaw – similar long productive life.

Apparently around 1995 he did a riff on academic culture that invoked Ted Kaczynski and Andrew Wiles and made mock of the introduction of math into social science. Pretty on point. Reason‘s Tom Lehrer tribute includes a link to it.
Mr Lehrer also understood something the late show hosts on the legacy networks didn’t, which is that getting Too Earnest kills the fun. R.I.P.
