Without a Dowd

UD stopped watching MSNBC when she realized she’d been an idiot for believing their smug insistence that Trump would never win. So she wasn’t watching when Matthew Dowd, one of their commentators, said Charlie Kirk was responsible for his own demise:

[H]ateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions… You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place…

Dowd has been fired, which is fine, but there’s more where that came from at MSNBC.

Saint Charlie, martyr to the cause. Justification for further violence, I’m sure.

  2. Margaret Soltan Says:

Possibly. Add universal guns to a serious political/cultural schism, and you can certainly expect a big mess.

“UD stopped watching MSNBC when she realized she’d been an idiot for believing their smug insistence that Trump would never win.”

I kept watching it through the election, mostly because I wanted to hear the arguments for Harris. It seems that they mostly boiled down to “She’s not Trump.” True enough but probably not a winning platform.

I ended up voting third party protest in 2024, as also did in 1980, 2016, and 2020.

Haven’t watched any TV for the last two months. My grandson lost the remote, and I haven’t found it. I don’t much miss TV, and I plan to drop my cable coverage.

    Haven’t given up Internet yet . . . .

  4. Matt McKeon Says:

Third party vote? Thanks for helping elect Trump! Every little bit counted.

  5. Stephen Karlson Says:

Thirty caliber deer rifle at 200 yards. I have cousins who could tell me how much elevation to compensate for, experience learned in a deer stand. Not one of those so-called assault rifles, and, thanks to the hunters who vote, not likely to be banned or more closely regulated.

As far as the mess to come, between the Charlottesville trolley knifing and “they” killed Charlie Kirk, yes, there are probably Militant Normals spoiling for a fight. So far, that seems to be confined to posturing on social media.

    Buckle in.

  6. Margaret Soltan Says:

Thanks for the details on the gun, Stephen.

  7. Margaret Soltan Says:

We stopped watching tv long ago, JND. For us, it’s all internet.
