I wonder how much of that crowding is tourists who have to get that selfie with the same few primary exhibits. Years ago, at Chicago’s Art Institute, there was this mob jostling for a look at American Gothic and almost nobody paid any attention to Nighthawks, which at the time was in the same gallery.

I think most of the crowding is just that.
