In a past life, I worked for a media production company in Socal. One of my jobs was obtaining rights for film and music. In the case of music, the rights were owned by BMI outta NYC. Musicians have nothing to do with who can get the rights, and no one cares what they think of the entity receiving those rights.

charlie: I wondered about that. But I assume any agreement involves SOME input, under SOME circumstances, from the artists as to who gets rights?
